University Summer Project

I have had a long summer holiday of four months and have been extremely busy with both enjoying the warm weather and doing my summer project.

• Part 1 – Research - Find a 30 second animated clip that features two characters interacting with out dialogue. You will do a 5 minute presentation of this in the first week of teaching.
• Create 5 pairs of Opposite / contrasting characters - they don't all have to be interconnected. They are a starting point for Character Animation & Implementation Think of famous animated teams; Sulley & Mike from Monsters Inc., Tom & Jerry, etc... = Characters:-

Drake Feng & Ed Wilson = Started

Medusa & Bastet - Animals/pets = Done
Prima & The Mermaid (The Mermaid still needs a lot of work) = Started

Rory Feng & Catherine Eddory = Started

Sam Jones & Pandora = Done

• Part 2 - Opposites
• They will be changed or may not even used, but the important part is that you undergo the design process. Start by creating the silhouette and then draw the characters from every angle. Use plenty of silhouettes and thumbnail sketches to begin.
• Think of the character design principles that we covered this semester in Sculpture for Animation; e.g. Shape Symbolism, Rule of Thirds, Rhythm & Abstract Angles. = Started
